Hamilton de Holanda Trio | Etienne Charles
and Creole Soul

$31 – $106 | 6:30 – 9:15 pm
Bacchus Landing | 14210 Bacchus Landing Way | Healdsburg

Join us for a double bill night combing Brazil’s best and Creole Soul.

A leading force in Brazilian jazz, Hamilton de Holanda embodies the inextricable ties between the U.S. and Brazil. With four Latin Grammy Awards including Best Latin Jazz Album in 2025, and 17 nominations, he’s arrestingly melodic improviser who wields his custom-made 10-string mandolin-like bandolin with precision and power. De Holanda is also a prolific, award-winning composer who has collaborated with an array of major creative figures, including pianists Chick Corea, Chucho Valdés and Gonzalo Rubalcaba, bassist esperanza spalding, mandolinist Mike Marshall, and rockers Dave Matthews and Coldplay (to say nothing of his extensive work with Brazilian luminaries).

With Creole Soul, Etienne Charles utilizes the pulsating dance rhythms of the Caribbean to take you on a journey through history and culture.

While jazz’s foundational Caribbean roots run primarily from Havana to New Orleans, the entire Caribbean basin has contributed to the music’s ever-evolving rhythmic continuum. Trinidad-born trumpeter and percussionist Etienne Charles has distinguished himself with a celebratory sound drawing on his homeland’s music, a connection he expanded through research funded by a Guggenheim Fellowship. Blowing with swaggering power and authority, he’s a charismatic improviser who is expanding jazz’s essential rhythmic palette. Etienne Charles is also Healdsburg Jazz’s 2026 Master Artist in Residence.

Join us at 5:30 in the bocce ball/picnic area at Bacchus Landing, for a pre-concert conversation with journalist Andrew Gilbert and Master Artist in Residence Etienne Charles. All are welcome!

Benny Green

Benny Green Matinee Concert

$41 – $131 | 2 – 3:15 pm
Paul Mahder Gallery | 222 Healdsburg Ave | Healdsburg

There’s simply no one who plays straight-ahead modern jazz piano with more joy and finesse than Benny Green, a lyrically charged and insistently propulsive approach honed in the star-making bands of three legendary masters: singer Betty Carter, drummer Art Blakey, and bassist Ray Brown. The irrepressibly swinging Berkeley pianist turns every concert into a thrilling expedition as he pays homage to the pianists and bandleaders who’ve provided life-long inspiration. His latest album, Sunnyside’s Solo, is his first solo recording in two decades and focuses on compositions by friends, heroes and mentors such as Oscar Peterson, Cedar Walton, James Williams, Tommy Flanagan, and Thelonious Monk. Like his performances, it’s a warm embrace that leaves audiences intimately connected to jazz’s soul-bearing artistry.

Sylvia Cuenca Trio

Late Night:
Concert and Jam with the Sylvia Cuenca Trio

9:30 pm | No Cover
Healdsburg Hotel Spirit Bar | 25 Matheson Street | Healdsburg

Presented by Healdsburg Jazz MAJOR SPONSOR Hotel Healdsburg

San Jose-reared drummer Sylvia Cuenca had only been in New York City for a few months when Joe Henderson hired her for a European tour, the start of a four-year working relationship with the tenor saxophone legend. She spent 17 years performing regularly with trumpet great Clark Terry, with whom she accompanied distinguished guest artists such as Al Grey, Red Holloway, Jimmy Heath, Frank Wess, Marian McPartland, Dianne Reeves, Joe Williams, and Lou Donaldson, to name a few. Now a deft bandleader in her own right, she plays a trio set of hard swinging blues-tinged modern jazz before her group hosts an exciting all-star jam session featuring locals and musicians in town for the Festival in the beautiful club atmosphere of the Spirit Bar located in the Hotel Healdsburg. Her trio will feature Peter Zak (piano), and Essiet Okon Essiet (bass).
