Monica Salmaso Trio
222 Healdsburg Ave, Healdsburg , CA 95448
Join us for an evening of Brazilian music. Mônica Salmaso has been following her own course, without interrupting the flow to evaluate how far she came. The source is clear and pure, and the paths were taken with conscience, but life’s rhythm has never allowed for a general perspective. On the albums and DVDs, she has released, and in the numerous projects she has been a part of, an identity always imposes itself beyond the voice. A narrative line in the works is connected by the interpreter’s essence, which remains faithful only to the music that resides on it. Delving into an essential and vast repertoire, Mônica proved that people remain thirsty for art. The journey through the site is an invitation for unveiling or even revisiting these beauties. As the poet says, “sailing is necessary.”
Teco Cardoso— One of the most creative Brazilian multi-instrumentalists (all saxes, flutes and Brazilian indian bamboo flutes) Teco Cardoso was born in the city of São Paulo, whose cosmopolitan flavors can be felt in his music. He started playing sax and flute in very important young jazz groups of the city, such as ZonAzul, then became a steady member of the internationally acclaimed Brazilian jazz group Pau Brasil. He brings jazz improvisations and contemporary experiments, which open a wide range of creative possibilities to the sounds and tones of Brazilian music, that blend well with a career that led his sax and flutes to the stage.
Guinga is known for his songwriting and his skill on the guitar. He is known for drawing on many musical genres, including choro, samba, baião, frevo, modinha, waltz, foxtrot, blues, classical music, and jazz. His compositions are often harmonically and rhythmically complex, while being melodic.
